The ones which use green gas are the most realistic in terms of power and feel.
They can shoot out the BBs at a rate of 400 fps which can definitely pierce the skin if you’re within 10 yards or so.
I would say the risk level is similar to that of paintball. Cover yourself up with protective clothing and whatever you do definitely wear face protection in the form of a paintball style facemask. This isn’t negotiable.
Cheap airsoft guns can be lots of fun when used properly. Safety is the biggest upfront concern but once it’s taken care of enjoy the fun and bonding you can have with fellow friends and family enthusiasts.
Go out and enjoy, point your barrel away from others until the game is lived, and lock and load.
Again, be smart, and use the airsoft weapon’s safety after and before the competition. Striking another player while they are not suited up could cause irreversible hurt, especially if you hit them in the face. So be careful, and have a great time.
