Have you noticed the transformation of the toy industry? Starting with the fifties, then sixties, into the seventies and eighties, in come the nineties and finally 2000 and beyond, toys have dramatically molded our planet.
Do you recall when Barbie, Play-Doh, and Skateboards came out? The correct answer is in the fifties. In addition to these toys were Hula Hoops, Mr. Potato Head and Pez. There are more, however these are just a few from that time period. Kids could be seen all over playing with their toys. Indoors or out, these were some simple ways of fun. Some still exist presently, but in a more up-to-date and sleeker forms.
The 1960’s also contributed several great toys too, for example, Super Ball, LEGOs, Sea Monkeys, Barrel of Monkeys, and Etch-a-Sketch. One can see the leap in inventiveness and imagination from the 1950’s to the 1960’s. Well it gets even more state-of-the-art with the arrival of the 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s. With the 1970’s we have Atari, Uno, Rubik’s Cube, Magna Doodle, and Dungeons & Dragons. The 1980’s introduced to Cabbage Patch Kids, Trivial Pursuit, Chia Pets, All Terrain Armored Transport and Transformers. Eventually came the 1990’s with Furby, Super Soaker, Beanie Babies, Buzz Lightyear and Power Rangers. All of these decades created fun for children that kept their creativity going strong.
In present times we are inundated with Play Station, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS, PSP, and Leap Frog products. The other day when scanning through Toys R Us they had a T-Rex on display that moves, walks, lights up, and makes noises. Don’t we remember a day when one had to create those sounds for themselves? Presently the inventiveness is handed to us and we no longer have to think, it just is there. No more pretend play, electronics has changed it into real play. To pick up some entertaining toys for oneself, one could use these Target coupons to help you save.
Throughout the years toys have given kids something to do with their spare time. Now, it has changed what they do when they are not in school or sleeping. Which year really has the most awesome toys? It doesn’t make a difference because in the end, all toys will create a happy end.
